Presentations, Readings and Lectures

As you may have guessed, I have developed a passion for Saskatchewan – its people, its places and its history.  And I love having the opportunity to share that passion with young and old alike.  Any group, any time, anywhere!

Most particularly I love being able to get out to small town Saskatchewan and meet and swap lies with some real people!  A format that works very well has me visiting the local school in the afternoon where I’ll typically do two one-hour presentations to Grades III-VIII and IX-XII, or something along those lines, followed by an evening get-together with a service club, local history group, library, etc.  Other formats are easily arranged as well.

For you teachers out there – is there enough Saskatchewan in your classroom?  A Bill Barry presentation will captivate and entertain your kids, and inspire them to read and probe in a variety of curriculum areas.

I often begin my school visits by asking the students how many of them speak Cree.  Not a lot of hands go up in most schools.  Then I get them to name for me our largest city, and to recite for me the name of our province.  When I tell them they’ve just been speaking Cree, I’ve got them hooked!

Our place names are an ideal supplement to Indian studies since so many of them reflect our First Nations heritage.

No one has ever gone to sleep during one of my presentations!  Money back if you’re not completely satisfied.
